Wuhan’s “76 Days” with Hao Wu

Hao Wu’s latest film, 76 Days, follows the heartbreaking experience of medical workers and patients in Wuhan, China during the city’s 76 day lockdown in an attempt to contain the virus. Using film collected from two co-directors on the ground in Wuhan, 76 Days helps bring forth a raw and powerful narrative from the tumultuous beginnings of what is now a global pandemic. Join us for a one-on-one discussion with Wu about the film and the implications of storytelling on such a complicated topic.

Hao Wu is an award-winning documentarian, filmmaker, and New America Fellow, who started his career working in the tech industry in both Silicon Valley and China. 76 Days, which premiered last September, has won awards at AFI Fest and the Heartland Film Festival, and is currently in consideration for the Academy Awards shortlist. Some of Wu’s other notable films include The Road to Fame, People’s Republic of Desire, and All in My Family.
