Electronic Waste


A hearing was held on the management of waste electronic equipment (e-waste) such as computers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, copiers, and fax machines. Topics included industry practices for recycling, refurbishment, re-sale and disposal of electronic products and the challenges associated with end-of-life management of electronic products. Also progress in "green" designing of products. Witnesses testified from the electronics manufacturing sector, the recycling industry, non-profit service provider, and academic research and development.
