Obama Administration and the Press


Panelists talked about a report by the Committee to Project Journalists which investigates press freedom conditions during the Obama administration. The report argues that the Obama administration has a low-level of openness and that government officials are increasingly more afraid to talk to the press. Speakers included Leonard Downie, co-author of the report, an Arizona State University journalism professor and former Washington Post executive editor. Other speakers included Joel Simon, the executive director of Committee to Project Journalists, and Rajiv Chandrasekaran, senior correspondent for the Washington Post.
